چکیده
In present work, we report an experimental setup that has been developed to characterize highly under-expanded helium and nitrogen jets confined in a vacuum chamber. The evolution of Zone Silence (ZOS) is studied found experimentally measured ZOS for are agreement with empirical relation mathematical model. velocity the jet inside using time flight (TOF) probe without skimmer. We able measures gas itself compared skimmer-based method which subjected further expansion after Moreover, this free from skimmer interference calibration involved it. observe smaller than terminal velocity. This can be attributed losses occur due nozzle geometry. Simulations carried out available DS2V code. Experimentally observed velocities simulated values within uncertainties.

Simulations and Measurements of Gas-Droplet Flows in Supersonic Jets Expanding into Vacuum
Simulations and measurements of gas-droplet multiphase flows in application to supersonic expansions into vacuum have been considered and compared with each other. The experiments involved exposing a control surface to a supersonic plume from two different nozzles and measuring the size distribution of droplets at various locations. The simulations are based on the direct simulation Monte Carlo...
متن کاملFlow Visualization of Angled Supersonic Jets into a Supersonic Cross Flow
This paper describes Nano-particle based Planar Laser Scattering (NPLS) flow visualization of angled supersonic jets into a supersonic cross flow based on the HYpersonic Low TEmperature (HYLTE) nozzle which was widely used in DF chemical laser. In order to investigate the non-reacting flowfield in the HYLTE nozzle, a testing section with windows was designed and manufactured. The impact of seco...
متن کاملModelling of Suddenly Expanded Flow Process in Supersonic Mach Regime using Design of Experiments and Response Surface Methodology
The present work is an attempt to model, analyze, and control the flow at the base of an abruptly expanded circular duct by using design of experiments (DOE) and response surface methodology (RSM). Tiny-jets in the form of orifice were positioned at an interval of 900, 6.5 mm from the primary axis of the main jet of the nozzle. Experiments were conducted to measure two responses namely, base pr...

متن کاملNumerical Simulations of Supersonic Flow in a Linear Aerospike Micronozzle
In this study, we numerically examine thrust performance of the linear aerospike nozzle micro-thruster for various nozzle spike lengths and flow parameters in order to identify optimal geometry(s) and operating conditions. Decomposed hydrogen-peroxide is used as the monopropellant in the studies. Performance is characterized for different flow rates (Reynolds numbers) and aerospike lengths, and...
